Levan came to the UK in 2008 from his homeland Georgia with a view to furthering his studies and starting a new life for himself. After completing an English course at West Thames College, Levan’s local Job Centre recommended him to the Heathrow Employment & Skills Academy and organised an appointment. Levan enrolled on the Pre-Employment Training programme and worked with the team to create his first

He believes that the Academy gave him the confidence he needed to go for the job and explains, “They gave me step-by-step techniques that really work and I got my first job at Rhubarb Restaurant in Terminal 3 where I worked for two years.”

The birth of his son led Levan to take a career break but he returned to the Academy looking for another challenge. With the support of Vocational Assessor Perrine, Levan got a job with currency exchange business Travelex. Soon after, Levan started and successfully completed Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship. “I want to thank the Academy for everything that they have done for me. I’m sure I can achieve even more working with the Academy. I’m going to start Level 3 soon and hope that will lead me to a promotion to Team Leader at Travelex.”

“I recommended the Academy to a waitress who said she wasn’t very happy in her job. I saw her a year later at the Travelex Christmas party and now we work together! She thanked me for recommending the Academy and I felt really happy and proud I’d helped her.”
