On the 6th of March, we celebrated our annual National Apprenticeship Week Event by inviting employers at Heathrow to listen to speeches made by Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye, The Rt Hon The Lord Blunkett and Becky Ivers, People Director – Expansion. Additionally, speakers from Dyer & Butler and Balfour Beatty shared their Apprenticeship experiences.

Guest Speakers at the event included: Simon Wright, Sashkia Todd, Balroop Sidhu, Steve O’Sullivan, Oliver Padgett, Lal Attzs and Karis Francis. Our wonderful guest speakers each spoke about their own Apprenticeship experiences and the reasons why they believe Apprenticeships are to be celebrated and supported by employers.

We were especially pleased to welcome charities Green Corridor and Project Search, who attended with learners looking to gain employment and training. Both charities support young people with learning disabilities, helping them access full time employment. Learners from Project Search had the opportunity to be a part of the team and contribute to event organisation, working towards completing their internship with the charity and gaining work skills. Learners from Green Corridor were selling their fresh produce to Heathrow employers, spreading awareness about their involvement with Heathrow and encouraging people to support the charity and their development into future employment.

Once again, the event was a success. Over 100 people attended, and an incredible 345 Apprenticeship opportunities and 287 Recruitment opportunities were pledged.

We are immensely proud to help provide these new opportunities and look forward to helping deliver them to aspiring career-seekers and Apprentices in the near future.
