From high-flying to landing
Alexandra lands her first job role after finishing top of year at college
Alexandra is one of Heathrow Academy’s youngest and most impressive recruits.
After studying her BTEC Diploma in Travel & Tourism at Uxbridge College, Alexandra enrolled on Heathrow Academy’s Pre-employment Training. “I did well at college and I had the chance to go to university but I just couldn’t wait to get into the working environment” she explains. Career-driven Alexandra worked closely with Heathrow Academy Recruitment Officer, Parminder by practicing competency based interviews, researching companies, identifying transferable skills and preparing for work in the unique environment at Heathrow. “Before this, nobody tells you what to expect in an interview. The Heathrow Academy Team help you prepare so you can confidently get across everything you have to offer” says Alexandra.
Alexandra, who lives in the Borough of Hillingdon came straight out of college into the Pre-employment Training. After a series of competitive interviews where she faced candidates with varying levels of experience, Alexandra was thrilled to secure her first job at Heathrow with dnata, working with Air India. After a steep learning curve of 18 months, Alexandra moved with dnata to Qatar Airways as Assistant Supervisor. She attributes her success to the support she found early on from the Heathrow Academy, combined with sheer determination and hard work.
“I recommend the Heathrow Academy to everyone I know. I’m really proud to be where I am in my career at only 19. I’m independent and thanks to my career I’ve been able to buy my own car that I love. My Mum actually enrolled at the Heathrow Academy after I did and now she’s really happy working at Heathrow as well!”
