Fed up with her job in retail, an online search uncovered a top-flight opportunity close to home for Amy. A career in HR seemed a natural choice for this people person so applying for the apprenticeship seemed the right thing to do. “My brother, my boyfriend and my boyfriend’s brother all work at the airport too! There’s just something about the airport that draws you to it.” After the initial interview Amy couldn’t wait to hear back and was delighted when she was offered a job “They saw the potential in me to develop and become part of the team offering me a position with dnata in the July. By September the Academy had got my apprenticeship up and running. Everyone involved has been great.”

Amy has completed a Level 2 Qualification Business Admin Apprenticeship and will soon be moving on to Level 3. “My confidence has grown through meeting new people and finding confidence in the work that I’m doing. It was difficult getting back into doing coursework at first, having not done it since A Levels, but it’s been good.”

Since completing her apprenticeship Amy has noticed what a difference it has made to her. “It’s helped massively in my personal life due to my confidence growing.” Has Amy found her ideal job? “I find HR very interesting. I’m definitely looking to stay at dnata for the next couple of years and build my experience. I see a future in HR.”

“Definitely sign up and go to the Academy. They can help you find an apprenticeship and help you develop a career in whatever you want to do at Heathrow. As long as you’re prepared to work hard, they’ll help you with the rest.”
