About The Role

The Shared Apprenticeship Scheme brings together a some of Heathrow’s major construction companies to offer local people the chance to contribute on upcoming Heathrow projects, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
 
As an apprentice on the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, you will have the opportunity to work with leading companies such as: Trinity, Wilson James, MACE, Atkins Global, Dyer & Butler and their supply chain.
 
Throughout your Apprenticeship, you will be fully supported by a dedicated Apprentice Programme Manager at the Heathrow Employment & Skills Academy, who will keep in touch and offer assistance as required throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship.

What you as an apprentice will be doing:
As an Assistant Site Manager, you will be making sure that day-to-day office tasks run smoothly. So, it’s important that you are organised, accurate and pay attention to detail. It is likely that you will be working for a construction-orientated firm, with some tasks including:
  • Monitoring costs and accounts
  • Operating project information systems
  • Monitoring the supplies of materials, plant and equipment
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships 
  • Analysing and presenting survey data
  • Creating drawings and schedules
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Applicants need to have at least a Level 1 in Functional Skills or GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (GCSE’s valid within last 5 years).
  • Grade 4 GCSE in ICT
Qualification Duration:
18-24 months
 
Qualification Title:
City & Guilds Level 4 Construction Contracting Operations
City & Guilds Level 3 Team Leader/Supervision

The Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is provided through K10 Apprenticeships.

K10 is an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA), accredited by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), that manages the delivery of high-quality apprenticeship and traineeship programmes within the construction sector. It is independent of any other organisation whilst working in collaboration with government, local authorities, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, training providers and 3rd sector organisations.
