Celebrating Our Newly Qualified Apprentices This National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week celebrations are in full swing at the Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy, and we’re thrilled to take a moment to shine a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of some of our apprentices who recently completed our Shared Apprenticeship Scheme.

What is the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme…

Heathrow’s Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, managed by the Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy and delivered by K-10, offers a valuable opportunity for the local community to launch and advance their careers with our construction and infrastructure supply chain partners. The programme provides apprentices with access to diverse qualifications and roles supporting airport operations, ranging from electrical installation and carpentry to site supervision, quantity surveying, business administration, site supervision, plumbing, data analysis and project management. To date, 106 apprentices have benefited from the scheme, with 75 currently participating in the programme!

Meet our newly qualified apprentices..

Two of our dedicated apprentices recently completed their apprenticeship journey and secured promising positions to develop their careers! Their success not only exemplifies the effectiveness of the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, but also highlights the talent and potential that local individuals bring to the Heathrow workforce.

Meet Kai Nardone Rudd

Recently completing his Level 3 Electrical Installation with Freemantle Electrical and CAMGO Electrical, who provided the exposure to work around the airport, Kai has now joined the CAMGO team as a fully qualified electrician!

Meet Romaka Kapoor

Romeka completed her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with MACE and has now been welcomed into their team as a direct employee.

Speaking about the scheme, Nigel Cole, MACE Aviation Managing Director, said ; “Mace are delighted to be supporting Heathrow’s drive to provide apprenticeships to the local community, through the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. It’s pleasing that we’re now able to directly employ a graduate of the scheme and welcome her to Mace’s Heathrow family”.

As we continue to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we’d like to extend a big well done to our apprentices and express our gratitude to our partners who remain committed to nurturing talent, creating opportunities and helping to build a strong foundation for the next generation of professionals in the aviation industry.
