About The Role

UKPN Services are looking to recruit a Quality Engineer to join their team at Heathrow!

Within this role, you would be reporting to the Quality and Assurance Manager and will work as part of the UKPN Services management team at Heathrow Airport and act as the local Quality representative at operational/project level with external partners.

The primary focus of the Quality Engineer, is to provide competent quality management advice to promote compliance to ISO 9001: 2015 in the review, audit, certification, induction and management of procedures and processes in electrical infrastructure construction projects for UKPN Services.

Principal Accountabilities: 
  • Provide Quality Management advice about ISO 9001: 2015 to other advisors, managers, employees, contractors and clients.
  • Contribute to the review of existing and the development of new procedures/processes.
  • Monitor compliance with ISO 9001: 2015, procedures, legal and moral obligations, and national, international and client standards.
  • Support the Client Delivery Manager and provide assistance and offer guidance to Project Managers in reviewing quality related project documents and requirements.
  • Provide a monitoring function to ensure that suppliers, subcontractors and the services they provide exceed our quality management system expectations.
  • Monitor site certification of materials and equipment, including tool calibration, to ensure compliance with client and project requirements.
  • Facilitate third-party audits of UK Power Networks Services by external certification bodies. Champion quality management system processes in the business to ensure certification requirements are maintained.
  • Be a point of reference for the ISO 44001 Collaborative Working relationship with Heathrow Airport Limited and support the project team in the maintenance of the certification and working relationship.
  • Must be able to demonstrable time spent working in the UK construction industry under the UK CDM (2015) regulations and be able to support the Client Delivery Manager and project team in applying CDM (2015) requirements.

About You

Essential Criteria: 
  • HNC (minimum requirement) qualification in a discipline such as Quality Management, Construction, Project Management or Technical/Engineering or equivalent
  • As a minimum be a Practitioner member of the Chartered Quality Institute with an aspiration to gain Chartered status, which we will support
  • Have quality management system experience gained in the construction industry working under UK CDM (2015) requirements (manufacturing/production line-based or other experience will not be suitable including QC/Inspection roles)
  • Be a trained QMS Auditor/Internal QMS Auditor with experience auditing to ISO 9001: 2015
  • Have experience of root cause analysis
  • Be able to attain client airport access passes and licences that may be required to work within Heathrow airport
  • Hold a valid full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:  
  • Flexibility with your approach to work and prioritise as directed by the Client Delivery Manager, Project Manager and Quality and Assurance Manager on projects undertaken at Heathrow airport
  • Audit to ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 45001: 2018 requirements would be desirable;
  • Knowledge of ISO 55001: 2014, ISO 44001: 2017, ISO 19650-1: 2018, ISO 19650-2: 2018, ISO 19650-3: 2020 and ISO 19650-5: 2020 would be advantageous
  • Be a team player and with other staff and clients within the business
  • Communicate at all seniority levels
  • Can work with IT software packages such as Microsoft office
